How To Apply Shoe Goo To Your Skate Shoes
We’ve all been there… when you look down at your skate shoes after a long session and see holes in them. Most of us have also been in the situation where you’re not quite ready to buy new shoes. If you’re looking to make the most out of the shoes you’re currently skating, then Shoe Goo is a must. In this article we will explain what Shoe Goo is and how to properly apply it to your shoes.
What Is Shoe Goo?
Shoe Goo is basically an adhesive and sealant that’s commonly used among skateboarders to extend the life of your skate shoes. As you continue skating your shoes, you will notice wear near the toe, where ollies and flip tricks happen. Shoe Goo can easily be applied to those high wear areas and once dried, it creates a flexible rubber coating to protect your shoes. Shoe Goo is water-resistant and works great on leather, rubber, vinyl, and canvas uppers.
When Do I Apply Shoe Goo?
You can apply Shoe Goo when a shoe is newer as a preventative measure, or after you see some wear and tear. Either way, it will serve as a useful tool to make the most of the shoes you’re skating in. Ideally you would want to use Shoe Goo before a hole goes completely through your shoe but if a hole is fully formed, you can still apply Shoe Goo for successful results.
How Do I Apply Shoe Goo?
Step 1: If your shoe already has a hole going through the toe area to the sock, then we advise you add duct tape from the inside of the shoe to create a surface for the Shoe Goo to sit. Once the Shoe Goo is applied (in the next steps), you can remove the duct tape if you’d like.
Step 2: Carefully squeeze the Shoe Goo container and apply a small amount to the worn area of your shoe. You want to make sure you’ve applied enough Shoe Goo to cover the entire wear area.
Step 3: Next, you’ll want to add water to your finger and carefully smooth out the shoe goo to better cover the worn area of your shoe. After you’ve applied your Shoe Goo, make sure to let it dry at least 24 hours before wearing your shoes again.
Helpful Tip: Apply a small amount of Shoe Goo to your shoe laces near the eyelet to prevent lace breakage.
