John Cardiel

Few come close to the legendary status that John Cardiel has achieved. Known for his fearless, charging style, intense energy, and lasting influence on skate culture, Cardiel continues to be a major influence and inspiration to skateboarders everywhere. Born in San Jose, CA, in 1973, Cardiel came up skating contests all around California, and somewhere along the way, around 1990, he found himself skating for Dogtown, Spitfire, and Venture Trucks. Only two years later, Cardiel won the coveted Thrasher Magazine Skater of the Year award and was featured on the cover of the April 1993 issue of the magazine. Fast forward to 1994, Cardiel was approached to co-found Anti-Hero Skateboards alongside Julien Stranger and has been with the company ever since, both as a pro and a founding member. Despite a life-altering spinal injury in 2003, which initially left him paralyzed, his relentless determination allowed him to recover, walk again, and continue pursuing his passion for skateboarding. Cardiel's legacy as a 1992 Thrasher Skater of the Year and his enduring inspiration to skaters worldwide solidify his status as one of skating's most respected and influential figures.
